What about the future? + I decided which Marathon + Our Weekend

6 miles the day after a 20 miler actually felt much better than I was expecting. 56 miles for the week and time to taper! I decided to do the Las Vegas Marathon. My good friend is now doing Vegas since Big Bear was cancelled, and I really want to go and help pace her for as long as I can. Our other friend, who was going to run Big Bear with her, can’t do this one, so I want to help her as much as I can!
I was confused when the Las Vegas Marathon changed its course this year, because I had studied it last month, and then it was suddenly different. I’m guessing the change was made to make it more similar to Big Bear, because of so many people transferring. I haven’t had any back/hamstring issues in quite some time, but Andrew already knows; he’ll be picking me up if the downhill hurts too much. Andrew has a bike race the day before in the area, and since we no longer have a game for Knox that weekend, it’s all worked out to go and try it out! But, if you see some massive positive splits, it’s because I want to stay with Jess as long as I can, and she is FIT.
I love the multi-colored trees right now.

Free popcorn day.

Ski season rentals!

Brooke’s team finished the season undefeated!

Sunday morning, Andrew, Beck, and I watched the Chicago Marathon. I teared up when Conner Mantz broke the American record. It’s incredible to see someone we see all over town training, day after day, achieve something so huge. So, so happy for him.

Buttermilk syrup and some Kodiak Pancakes.

He thinks that he and Knox are suddenly the same age.

We had the best soup at my sister’s house for my nephew’s birthday–> Carrabbas Copycat Spicy Sicilian Chicken Soup.

My niece made these gorgeous bread twists.

For dessert–> the yummiest ice cream treat that my mom makes!

Finished up with my niece tweezing my brows.

We talked about what running used to be like (your additions were so good), and I thought it would be fun to make some predictions about the future of running:
I predict:
*There will be something like a drone that will replace human pacers in races. I’ll always prefer humans over tech, but I can see this happening.
*I bet breaking 2 hours in the marathon will happen more often than we think…
*Andrew already uses AI to get a personalized plan for his biking, and I bet that will become more popular and have it connected to your watch/HR/etc, gathering all of your metrics. It could even adjust your plan in real-time based on your sleep or stress levels??
*Do you ever think that shoes will become ‘smart’… giving you more information or coaching on your foot strike, keeping track of your mileage (I mean, I wouldn’t hate a little number on the back of the shoe that say how many miles your shoes have gone), or giving you compliments on your accomplishments (‘wow, that 5k was remarkable’).
*Some sort of tiny gel or gummy bear that is packed with everything you could need to fuel you for the next 60 minutes. This might just be me with wishful thinking, I am so over taking gels right now.
*No more safety pins or flapping bibs. A lightweight bracelet that tracks you throughout the course.
*Last, but not least, some sort of hair gel that prevents something like this from ever happening to my hair again.
