It’s just a phase. – The Hungry Runner Girl

8 miles @ 7:54 average before getting everyone out the door for their last day of school!

How is this her last day of 1st grade?!

We had Knox’s elementary school graduation. He and Brooke will be in middle school together now. They are so ready to be at the same school again.

What he did when he got home, ha. Graduating is not easy!

And then we played in the front yard with the kids’ cousins and some friends.

Remember, parents: Summer can be simple. I swear my kids are happiest when we are just outside, there is some water involved, and they are using their imaginations. Don’t feel like every day has to be some big ordeal. This view of my walnut tree will be a big part of my summer.

The chickens are adjusting to their new home quite well.

I also thought the inside of my bread was really pretty. I can’t get over the fact that it’s just made from flour, water, salt, and starter.

We grilled up some hot dogs for dinner and took an evening walk. Skye is pretty happy we can still swing her.

She also wanted me to share her s’mores recipe with you-> skip the graham crackers and double the chocolate.

I love it when nature teaches me my biggest life lessons. For some reason, when a lesson comes from nature, I embrace it and believe it more than when it comes from anywhere else. I swear the sunrise each morning is what got me through my divorce. I can’t tell you how many times, when life felt as dark as it could be, the sunrise reminded me that the sun ALWAYS comes up, even after the darkest nights. The light always comes. Always. And that daily sunrise gave me the hope I needed to go through the hardest time of my life.
I came across the image below, and absolutely loved it. It is a beautiful metaphor that teaches me that different phases are part of this life for each of us. There will be times we feel whole and times we don’t, just like the moon and really any other thing we come across in nature. In each of the moon’s phases, it still provides light and beauty. Even when it is just a tiny sliver out there in the vast sky. I feel so much peace and hope when I see how connected we all are to the different cycles we see in nature.

Middle school or junior high?
-I always call it junior high, and my kids correct me very quickly.
Any life lessons from nature that you love?
Are you attending any graduations this time of year?
Has it started getting hot where you live?
