The Protein Snacks list + I Signed up…

You guys are seriously the best. Thanks for meeting Max and being so kind. I read all your comments to him, and he already feels so loved. 😉 Blogging for 15 years (once October hits) has come with topics that I’m afraid to talk about because of past experiences, but I’m letting that fear go because I CRAVE connection here, and that’s what happens when I post what I want to post without worrying.

Do you like the sweatshirt Andrew’s friend made for all of them for their guys’ weekend? Nerdcon 3!

I got in 8 miles… I dressed like it wouldn’t rain, and it poured on us. I also did some yoga yesterday because that’s just life now. Mobility and balance are in. Running will be my reward for keeping up with these things.

(shorts, shoes, a different very cute orange tank)

I try hard to spend time with each kid one-on-one as often as possible, and Skye and Knox were up yesterday. I brought Skye her favorite ice cream to school to eat before she had lunch, because dessert first feels special.

And then Knox and I went to grab some food together during his lunch break. I cannot believe that he only has a few more weeks of 6th grade left.

Skye got a team captain award at cross-country.

And Beck fell asleep on me while Brooke was reading to us, which meant I stayed on the couch with him reading until he woke up, which I very much enjoyed.

And these two are applying to a class that they would be able to take together next year. How fun would that be for them?

I signed up for another race! I’m hooked on trail running, and I decided to sign up for–> Timpanogos Marathon and 1/2 Marathon! I’ve got a little more than two weeks until the race, and it is about 2500 ft of climbing over 13.1 miles, so it will be a challenge for me, but I’m excited. It will be the perfect training run for my longer trail race in a few months. I love including races in the training for longer races. It’s the best dress rehearsal, and having the course support and other runners makes it all so much fun. I can’t tell Max about the race because he won’t be allowed to join me, so I’ll sneak out that morning before he wakes up. My last trail 1/2 marathon was in 2013, so it’s time for another go at it:

While finding my trail race picture above, I came across a pic of Brooke when she would hang out in her car seat on the deck while I logged some treadmill miles next to her. Time flies.

I’ve been going on and on about my new love, protein, and people have asked what kind of protein I’m including in my snacks. My current goal is 125g a day, and I’m feeling pretty great with this amount. I used to think I was the type of person who needed a daily 15-minute nap (or just felt exhausted every afternoon), but I haven’t taken one since I made these changes (and started taking creatine). Let’s chat about my current go-tos again:

*I mentioned my love for the Kind Protein bars last week, and then they sent me these glorious boxes, I am SET. Truly, delicious. You would never know they have so much protein.

*Cottage cheese with anything. I’m one of the lucky people who loves cottage cheese, and so I add whatever fruit I have and call it a day. I know people love to use it as a dip with crackers, and I also LOVE to mix in some salsa and eat it with chips. This picture does not make the CC and salsa combo look good, but I promise it is:

*I’m loving wrapping up veggies with hummus and delicious, fancy (to me) sliced turkey.

*I can’t stop eating these protein balls.

*The below steak bites and edamame beans from Costco are also very delicious. Honorable mentions for me currently are: Greek yogurt with granola or hard-boiled eggs.

Got any to add to our protein snacks list?

Who has a May birthday, race, or anniversary?

Ever in a sibling’s class growing up?

-The closest I came to that was going to BYU at the same time with my brother and meeting for lunch.

Favorite ice cream flavor these days?
