The marathon I might be doing + Full disclosure.

(tank, shorts)
I will disclose that my gut has never been so off as it was during my speed workout yesterday. It may or may not be due to eating leftover pizza at 2 am during my current awake hours (WHAT IS HAPPENING?!), but yesterday was hard and full of stops during the recoveries. But I did it. And each interval felt better, so that was nice.
I’d be happy to never have to eat a gel again for the rest of my life. I’m over them.

A few things from the run to talk about:
*I kept lying and telling myself, “I am comfortable.” I started believing it. Lie enough about something and it becomes fact in your brain;)
*NEVER EVER EVER TRUST THE WARM-UP AND FIRST INTERVAL. During the first few miles, I felt like there wasn’t a chance I would do the entire workout with my friends. I’m so glad I didn’t trust those thoughts because with each one of the 4 x 2 miles, I felt better and better. We finished with our fastest one.
*We were all struggling more than normal yesterday, and so Em blasted some tunes for us during the intervals, which helped significantly. Especially, Gangsta’s Paradise.
*Lie on the grass after a workout. It feels too good to be true.

*I’m not sure how so many people are losing their shoes and socks on the sides of roads. I swear we passed at least 10 of each over the 13 miles.

It’s the St. George Marathon this Saturday! It feels so strange not to be going down there this weekend. I love this marathon with all of my heart, and I am so excited for everyone racing it this year. You can read my recaps here, here, here, here, here, and here (and my DNF here)! Plus, my St. George 1/2 recap! Please let me know how it goes if you are there this weekend.

While I won’t be doing St. George (I need a bit more time to train), I think I have narrowed down my marathon options for this fall to two. I somehow found myself in marathon training for my friend’s marathon (Big Bear, but I have a wedding that weekend), so I want to do something! We’ve also all decided to run Boston 2027 together, so I need and want a BQ time to join them. I won’t know until October 11th which marathon I’ll do based on playoff schedules for my kids but I will either be doing the Las Vegas Marathon on October 26th (we will already be down there that weekend for Andrew’s bike race on 10/25 UNLESS a playoff game for our kids is scheduled for that weekend) or I’m thinking of Every Women’s Marathon on November 16th. The Las Vegas Marathon would be much cheaper for us since we were already going there, but either way, I am happy! P.S. I thought I would do Houston a few weeks ago, but I’m not sure I can keep up with another three months of long runs and speed workouts, haha.

Max got a haircut, and I think he is feeling a little insecure about it.

I’m not going to lie, we are THRIVING in this teen stage…

Brooke did my hair yesterday, I wore her comfy sweatshirt after my run, and Knox sends me DoorDash from his school computer. Zero complaints from me about teens.

Other exciting things from our day:
*I tried to take Knox to football at the completely wrong time because my brain sometimes turns off.

*Brooke had a night game. Still undefeated!

*My sister found a Swedish Candy Truck that I must find and try.
