Welcome to today’s new series:

Max was thrilled to get woken up early to join me for some time on the trails. His enthusiasm for running is very contagious, and he keeps me from taking too many breaks because he is not interested in stopping.
Our fall colors are a bit dull this year compared to most years because we haven’t gotten the rain we usually do, and it was a very hot summer, but I’m still loving what we are getting…

I think sunflowers are underrated.

If you are lacking motivation to get out the door to run (and you love dogs), please get a dog that loves to run, because they will get you out of that running slump fast.

Yoga at home with whatever things Beck could balance on my head afterwards.

It is officially ‘bring a blanket in the car’ weather here in the mornings.

Mer (my grandma) must be so proud of how often we visit Great Harvest. She loved this place very very much.

A normal afternoon around these parts…

Do any other kids take apart their Lego sets to be able to put them together again?

Dinner a la Costco. My kids LOVE these.

Welcome to today’s series, ‘Random topics that I’m pulling to talk about that are from my notes app.’
*Why does running 18 miles feel SO much more doable than running 20? I swear the 2-mile difference between 18 and 20 feels like 50.
*I’m going to start to carry blank birthday cards around in my bag… I swear I often meet new people, and it somehow gets brought up that it is their birthday, and then I feel awkward for not knowing it was their birthday, even though I’ve never met them before that moment we are talking.
*The darker the shadow is, the more intense the light will look. Opposition is everywhere. The dark times make the bright times so much more worthwhile.
*Did anyone else watch the Unknown Number: The High School Catfish? I still haven’t recovered. HOW?!?!
*We all grow at our own pace. As long as we are growing in some way, it doesn’t matter the pace. Give yourself some grace if you don’t feel like you are growing fast enough.
*People just want to be a part of something… Don’t let your own insecurities hold you back from making them feel a part of your world.
*TAKE SALT TABS ON RUNS OVER 90 MINUTES. I feel so much better when I do.
*”Ahhhh it feels so good to be on a trip.” -I wrote down this quote from Beck on our way to Hawaii. He has just had so many stressors going on, the relief he expressed to finally be on vacation made us all laugh so hard;)
*Sometimes my biggest motivation to run most days of the week is just remembering how hard it is to get back into shape in the first place. It’s easier to just keep it (if you aren’t injured or burned out) than to have to build up again.
*No feeling is final. (<- my reminder to myself that no matter how hard a feeling I am experiencing feels, it won’t be there forever)
*Never make a big decision inside. My decision-making process is 100x better outdoors vs indoors. Also, I cannot make ANY decisions at night.
