Runner’s Joy Bingo + What Does This Mean?

(tank, shorts, shoes)

My strength session the day before these trails yesterday made every foot climbed feel like ten. I hear that we shouldn’t be super sore from strength training, but I feel like I am every single time… Does that mean I need to be doing it way more frequently?

The last few weeks have been filled with yellow flowers in the mountains, and now there are purple ones everywhere.

The yoga afterwards with Skye definitely helped with the soreness.

It was a waterpark with my sister and her boys kind of a day.

When we got back from Switzerland in April, I was as motivated as ever to cook all of our meals, and then summer hit…

I am truly impressed by the fact that Beck went down the same slide at least 50 times, and his excitement during the 1st and the 50th time were the same.

Pool days make kids extra snuggly, according to my parenting research.

I did cook one thing yesterday, and it was one of the best things I’ve eaten in a long time: Mexican Street Corn Pasta Salad. 10/10. Next time, I’m going to add some grilled shrimp to it. I’m also going to use the extra dressing for tacos…

Let’s play bingo (not sure how that will work but it sounded fun;) with my list of things that make me (or would make me happy) as a runner:

*When you tell someone how far you ran and they ask ‘in one day?’

*Also, when you get to act all humble after they ask you the above question;)

*Passing a runner going the other direction and feeling like you’re part of an unspoken cult. (Spoiler: We are.)

*A car honking at me and believing that it’s them telling me I look really fast and not believing that they are just being rude;)

*That first sip of water when you finish a run… Whether at your car or your house. Never has water tasted so good (except for after every other run I’ve ever done).

*When people take a double-take at your sock tan line… They must think we are hardcore runners when they see the line.

*When I start a run angry at the world, and finish feeling like I need to change my career to motivational speaking. Also, some runs, I feel like I should be a poet by the end.

*When your race bib # is your lucky number (I’m still waiting for this one… #22 better happen one day ((also, that was my favorite number long before Taylor Swift’s song)).

*Another one I am waiting for to happen because I think it would make me crazy happy: If my watch beeped the mile at the exact time I crossed a mile marker during a race.

*When someone tells me after a run, “Wait, you don’t even look like you’ve run.” Also, still waiting for this to happen. I always look like I’ve run after a run.

I would love to hear about any running (or fitness) joys that you’ve had (or you are waiting to have)?

Do you cook as much during the summer as the rest of the year or does it slide for you, too?

How sore are you after strength training?

Best thing you’ve made in a while?
