Under Armour racing shoe reaches another New York City Marathon podium

Another marathon major, another podium for Under Armour athlete Sharon Lokedi and the brand’s newest carbon-plated racer—the UA Velociti Elite 3.
Lokedi’s second-place finish at the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon in 2:20:07 marked her third NYC podium in the last four years. Her results speak to what her shoe sponsor continues to strive for—consistency. And the latest Velociti Elite 3 is Under Armour’s most refined racing shoe yet, engineered for what the brand calls “gun-to-tape efficiency.” Lokedi’s recent performances show just how effective that can be.

Under Armour says the Velociti Elite 3 is built for personal bests, but its biggest strength lies in the full-length carbon plate embedded within a dual-layer HOVR+ foam midsole, delivering energy return where runners need it most. To ensure every stride feels fast and efficient, the plate has been shaped into an aggressive rocker for smooth transitions and maximum propulsion.
The upper features a lightweight, water-resistant mesh that maintains its structure while allowing airflow, offering the precise, locked-in fit runners look for. From the bevelled heel to the perforated tongue, every detail of the Velociti Elite 3 is optimized for elite racing—and on Sunday in NYC, those details mattered for Lokedi.
The shoe was built on thousands of miles of athlete feedback, fine-tuned across training and testing to enhance responsiveness over long runs and deliver the surge runners need when it’s time to accelerate. That collaboration paid off earlier this year at the 2025 Boston Marathon, where Lokedi relied on the shoe’s efficiency and energy return to power her to a second career Abbott World Marathon Major title.

Standing on the New York start line, Lokedi said she trusted Under Armour’s innovation team, which has helped her push her limits and give her the tools to win the world’s most competitive races.
“The Velociti Elite 3 represents the very best of Under Armour innovation and our relentless drive to deliver an essential edge to athletes everywhere,” said Doug Smiley, Under Armour’s director of performance footwear. “The insights from Sharon Lokedi have helped us craft the ultimate race-day solution that delivers energy return, efficiency, and propulsion with every stride.”
The UA Velociti Elite 3 will be available to purchase in the U.S. on Nov. 3 and will be in Canadian stores in early 2026.
