What we are giving ourselves that nobody else can + I’m highly interested in your response!

(tank, shoes, shorts)
Would you like to know something I’ve been thinking about a lot when I get out the door for a run? Each time we go out for a run, we are showing up for ourselves in a way that nobody else can. Each time we push start on our watches, we are giving ourselves the gift of improved energy, better sleep, stronger organs/bones/muscles, and lower stress levels. Can anyone else besides ourselves provide that gift to us? Nope. But we do each time we show up and try our best. So when it gets hard this summer with the heat and humidity, remind yourself that you are giving yourself something by starting that nobody else can. No amount of money could ever give such a gift, and if we don’t give it to ourselves, who will?
8 miles total with 4 x 400s at the track–> 1:24, 1:24, 1:25, 1:21. The goal was to do 6 x 800, but clearly, we modified things significantly. The first one truly felt like a punch to the gut. Last May, I ran a 69-second 400, and this May, an 84-second 400 killed me. But that kind of stuff can’t stop us from trying again and again. New season, new goals. The band-aid has been ripped off.

The kids have been really into daily breakfast burritos.

We got to see my mom, and her dog loves Brooke.

My mom’s tree is really showing off these days.

Skye and I took a trip back to the high school that I went to:

My nephew was competing in the 3200! He already qualified for state, so it wasn’t a day to go out for a PR, but it was so fun to see him do his thing, and I can’t wait to cheer for him at state. He is in the red:

She said she wished she could have competed too.

I didn’t realize until I looked at my home receipt that this almond butter was $13?! HOW???

My sister told me to try the Jackfruit Chips from Costco with pico, and I doubted her. I shouldn’t have. It’s a strangely perfect combo.

Today’s questions are a bit deeper than my usual ones, but I am highly interested in your responses to these:
What leads you to make a choice that is good for you health? Is it because you know it will make you feel good? Because it will help you down the road with aging? Is it because it’s the social norm? It’s a habit you grew up doing?
What’s something that makes you forget to check your phone or that your phone even exists?
-Whatever you reply with, try to fit that in today.
