Running

My list of things that I don’t think you’ll regret…

7 miles at 8:08 average. Sarah was in town from the East Coast, so she joined us. Every summer, she visits Utah, and every year we get a reunion run!

One of our summer themes this year has been an unusual amount of Kodiak Cakes protein waffles/pancakes. It has been 60% of my protein intake this week because we’ve had them twice a day sometimes;). Adding some sprinkles to the batter makes their days 10x better.

We took the pups out for a walk.

We had my nephew stop by before he left for his mission to Germany!

And then we got to have my other nephew come and stay with us. He will be with us for a few days while my brother and his wife go on a trip together. He makes life so much fun, so we are excited to get to do this!

His #1 spot is currently Barnes & Noble so we had to make that happen.

The packing and…

The carb loading have begun.

Joan’s sunrise run from Minnesota! Keep sending these to me, they make my day.

I saw a list on Substack the other day of things that they think you’ll never regret doing, so I decided to make my own (with mostly running involved):

*Of course, I’ll start with this one–> Going for a run, especially when you didn’t feel like it.

*Taking the rest day your body is begging for.

*Smiling or waving at other runners (unless it’s at mile 22… then just blinking counts).

*Letting yourself feel proud… even if you didn’t hit your goal, you got out and tried.

*Staying out a little too long on a good run with friends.

*Admitting you needed help.

*Getting outside no matter what the weather is.

*Saying yes to the sunrise.

*Cheering someone else on rather than feeling jealous, even if you wish it were you.

*Throwing away your scale if it doesn’t benefit your brain and life.

*Starting the run or race slow so you can finish fast.

*Judging the run on how you felt, the conversations you had (with others or yourself), and for starting when that is the hardest part…instead of judging your run on your pace.

*Choosing the route/trail with the prettier view, even if it takes longer to get to.

*Encouraging a stranger during a race… Whether they are passing you, you are passing them, or they are next to you. It’s crazy how much energy doing this gives me.

*Taking time after a run to sit and have a bowl of cold fruit, a delicious meal, or your favorite protein shake.

Any foods this summer that you’ve eaten way more of than at other times?

Anything to add to my ‘you won’t regret’ list?

What’s your running “ick”? (ie when your sock slides down mid-run…)

What’s your workout today?
