Running

It turns out: + Was anyone else shocked?

I bought some Athleta gear for Skye during the sale and I’m really enjoying matching her:).

It turns out the key to a new PR and a much better-feeling workout isn’t rolling out of bed and getting straight on the bike. I decided to give myself less rushed mornings this year. I reached a new low;) during Christmas break = I’d start whatever workout I was doing 99% asleep and rushing around because I would sleep in so late… which was fun, but I’m ready for a change. I woke up about an hour before I started my workout, drank, ate, journaled in the quiet, and then started my ride. It felt so much better. I even got a new PR in my 15-minute class, which hasn’t happened in quite some time.

It never gets easier; the output just gets higher.

Then it was off to school for everyone. I love their matching haircuts so much:

It was a library kind of a day.

Skye has turned into quite the bookworm.

The day ended with girls night…

I wish I could find a synonym for tangents that starts with a W so I could continue the tangents on Wednesday, but I can’t, and I’ll just share them anyway:

*My niece recommended two books to me: The first was I Must Betray You, which I gave 5 stars on Goodreads. This book is about a 17-year-old boy living in Romania when communism was starting to collapse there (1989). The story was shocking and heartbreaking but written so well. I felt like I was in the room with the characters while reading. I have an aunt who escaped Romania during the communist time there, and I’ve loved learning more about her story as we’ve chatted after reading this book. It is all such an eye-opener and helps me feel so much gratitude for the tiniest of things.

I have now started listening to Salt to the Sea (a story about the German cruise liner in 1945 )

*Did you see that Senita is closing down shop?! I was so suprised to see this!

*The other day when we were skiing, I was thinking about my dad teaching me how to ski at Brian Head Ski Resort. I have some of my best memories with him there skiing (never will you meet a more cautious skier than my dad;) and I love that I’m able to do the same with my kids and I hope they can too with theirs.

Who else was shocked to see Senita closing up shop?

Any activities with your dad growing up that you remember well?

What is harder for you? Biking or running?

-100% biking for me.
