I signed up for a Race + Tangents!

I wore a hat because of the chemical peel situation and thank goodness I did because none of us knew we were going to be hit by a winter storm mid-run!

A hair washing was required after that one.

The kids are determined to save up money, and they did a cookie sale yesterday. We are really into this recipe lately!

Our little entrepreneurs.

I signed up for a race! I’ve wanted something to look forward to this year regarding racing, but nothing has really excited me until this race.

I was texting my friend Austin (pictured above when he paced me for my Antelope Island 50 miler) about the marathon he is doing later this year and asked him to motivate me to sign up for something. He did right away with this picture alone:

Oh, and this one:

I’ll get to do The El Vaquero Loco with my friend, Austin! I’ve wanted a race that feels adventurous, new (to me), and challenging without too much commitment (i.e., I’m not ready for a marathon yet). This one checks every item on my list.
I will die with this elevation gain, but hey, it will be an automatic PR. I’ve done a 25k, but that’s as close as I’ve come to a 31k race.

Also, this is reason enough to sign up for it… You get a RACE HOODIE.

It seems fitting that Nathan just sent me this 12L Pinnacle Pro to test. It’s almost meant to be that I signed up for a trail race.

*We were watching Ryan Trahan on YouTube, and he was in Japan going to a gym there. He had to rent shoes for the gym because they are strict about outside shoes vs. inside shoes, which sent me down a rabbit hole of reading about gym etiquette in Japan.
*”In March the earth remembers its own name. Everywhere the plates of snow are cracking. The rivers begin to sing.” -Mary Oliver.
*Andrew sent me his birthday list;). Hahaha I WISH!

*I could live off of these from Costco.
