I could get used to this. + Our Weekend

It was my first run back with Emilee after she crushed it at Boston—8 miles @ 8:18 pace and not nearly enough time to catch up on everything.
Andrew went on a guys’ trip with his high school best friends over the weekend, and so my niece was over in the morning while I ran. Skye wanted a fancy hairstyle for her first track meet, and my niece delivered.

And then we were off for the big morning.
Does anyone else have three drinks with them at all times? Protein drink, electrolytes, and caffeine… I feel naked without them.

This is the song that Skye chose to listen to on repeat for the drive to help pump her up. It will now be my pre-race pump-up song, too.

And then we got there and she did some drills and strides with her running friend. Yes, my heart was exploding. This was all her decision (she joined when her cousins asked her to join them). I’m not going to lie, when she says that running is her favorite sport now, I am pretty happy about it.

You all know Jane Hedengren (aka the fastest female high schooler in the nation, breaking every record possible), her dad is the coach of Skye’s cross-country team and is so generous with his time and knowledge. He is the nicest guy and does so much for our community for free. They put on this amazing track meet, and hundreds of elementary and middle school kids were there. Skye wanted to participate in the 200m and 400m, but once she was there, she decided to add on the 50m, 100m, and 800m, too. They even place a QR code on their bibs and keep track of each kid’s times and their PRs. Skye is already on fire:

The blurriest picture, but Knox ran to the other side of the field to run on the grass next to Skye during her 800m.

I’m sure this will be the first of many track meets together for these cousins. We went for milkshakes afterward, and I could get used to days like this.

My niece came over after completing her FIRST marathon! She said at mile 20, there was a spectator with a stand where he was giving runners Dole Whips. I need that to happen at my next marathon.

Sunday morning involved dying my roots and yoga in my room.

We had a bunch of family over for crepes Sunday morning.

And then had everyone back together again by the evening.

A pic from Brooke’s weekend with her dad:

And a pic from Andrew’s mountain biking ride with his friend’s from high school.
