Running

Friday Favorites + I’m not sure I am happy or angry that I did this.

(shoes)

Is ignorance bliss, or is knowledge power? I’m undecided about which is true regarding my upcoming trail race next week.

We did a portion of my trail race that I had only done once in 2013. Because it is so hard, this trail has been buried in my subconscious as a means of survival ever since, but yesterday brought it back out.

Now that I remember what it was like, I’m sure I’ll pace things a bit smarter, but it was nice living in bliss when it came to these climbing portions in miles 7-10.

There will be a good amount of hiking next weekend, like I did yesterday, but who knows, maybe I built so much strength during our run yesterday that I’ll just glide through like we did at the top with wildflowers everywhere. I seriously questioned myself as to why I paid money to do this trail again next week;). There better be good snacks.

I think Andrew is a bit relieved that I have Max to take 50 selfies along the way.

We did 10 miles with about 2200 ft of climbing.

We stop at every water fountain and share our bottle along the way.

Andrew was fun and jumped into the water at the end, but I was so tired, I wasn’t sure I would be able to swim.

My niece and her boyfriend texted to see if we wanted to meet them for lunch, and we were there in a flash.

Nothing has ever tasted better after a run.

A little cross-country practice after school. Brooke and Knox led the kids in their sprints:

Random tangent, but have I ever told you about how my grandmother on my dad’s side was a professional shopper? People hired her to shop for them! I feel like with my Friday Favorites, I am following in her footsteps. She was shopping at Bergdorf Goodman and Gimbels while mine are Amazon and Walmart, but it’s basically the same thing;)

*Brooke has wanted the mini Summer Fridays lip set for quite some time, and I couldn’t find it anywhere in the colors that she wanted, but Walmart has a complete knock-off on them for a third of the price, and I couldn’t tell the difference if I tried.

*My favorite outfit from this week: pants, white tee, long sleeve (cheaper version here), shoes.

*The levis that I wear so often this time of year. Amazon has them, too! (White tee and shoes ((on sale))

A few Amazon things that I can’t live without:

*I absolutely notice a difference in my hair growth with these gummies.

*My favorite summer slides… I have them with white straps, and Brooke has them with black straps.

*If you haven’t tried salt tablets before, summer running is the perfect time to start. I take one every 30 minutes during my longer runs and feel quite the difference. The coconut pineapple ones are my favorite.

*My cheap amazon bracelet, which I’ve been wearing daily for months (even in the shower), and it still looks brand new.

*Truly. The best leave-in conditioner I’ve ever had. If they stop making this stuff, I will protest. I refuse to wash my hair without using it when it is wet because of what it does to my hair. I may sound dramatic, and that’s because I am. I even packed it to France.

What are your Friday night plans?

Does your watch ever exaggerate your ascent stats? IE yesterday, it said I climbed 2972 ft and had a 2041 descent (even though we started and finished in the same place). In reality, the loop we did was about 2200 ft (according to my friend that knows our mountains perfectly)…. I want my watch to tell me the truth. Anyone know how to fix this?

Upcoming race course for you–> Do you prefer the ignorance is bliss or knowledge is power approach?

I’m forcing you to choose between salsa or guacamole for the rest of your life… which one?
