Alexi Pappas to run the Calgary Marathon 10K

Runners in Calgary are in for a special treat from May 23-25, as Olympian, filmmaker and writer Alexi Pappas joins the 2025 Servus Calgary Marathon race weekend. A standout in the running world and beyond, Pappas is known for her record-breaking performances and her inspiring storytelling. Whether you’re racing the Asics Runkeeper 10K alongside her, meeting her at the runner’s expo for an Instagrammable opportunity or just cheering the sparkly star from the sidelines, this is a weekend you won’t want to miss.

An inspiration both in and out of her running shoes

Pappas, who set a Greek national record in the 10,000 metres at the 2016 Rio Olympics, has since expanded her horizons to include guiding visually impaired runners at both Boston and London Marathons. Beyond her athletic accomplishments, she’s a filmmaker, actor and author of Bravey: Chasing Dreams, Befriending Pain, and Other Big Ideas, a memoir that resonates with runners and dreamers alike. “Alexi’s energy is electric and she’s building a global community, inspiring all sorts of people to run,” Servus Calgary Marathon race director Kirsten Fleming told Canadian Running. “Not everyone is able to travel to big U.S. races where you might see running’s biggest stars, so we’re excited to bring Alexi to Calgary, so Canadian Braveys can run shoulder to shoulder with a real hero in our sport.”
